Canucks Autism Network
Summer in the City
Summer in the City is a unique, week-long summer experience for teens aged
12 -17 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The program is designed to
encourage peer to peer friendship in an environment that fosters respect and
understanding. Our goal is to have teens participate in fun activities
throughout the Lower Mainland where they must hone in on their communication
skills and abilities in interfacing with the public and with each other.
The program weaves its way through a number of well-known Vancouver
attractions, including the Aquarium, Stanley Park, the Canopy Walkway at UBC
and GM Place. Each day features an art project, sporting event and
activity, as well as snacks (mid-morning and afternoon) and a bag lunch.
Summer in the City is being offered for two sessions: July 6-10 and August
10-14, 8:30 — 4:30 pm. The registration fee is $10.00 per participant.
Registration is open for teens aged 12-17. Please note that space is limited
so we ask that you register for only one session to allow the maximum number
of teens to participate. One-to-one workers are welcome, but not provided
for this experience.
